Sacred Paws
Formed in Glasgow in 2013 around Ray Aggs and Eilidh Rodgers, Sacred Paws occupies a lively crossroads between post-punk, indie pop and Afrobeat-inspired rhythms. The duo grew out of Golden Grrrls, while Ray Aggs also leads projects such as Shopping and Trash Kit, placing Sacred Paws within a British independent scene that moves between Glasgow and London. After the Six Songs EP in 2015 and the single “Everyday”, Sacred Paws developed a direct, melodic and taut approach built on interlocking guitars, dry drums and a marked sense of polyrhythm. The debut album, Strike a Match, was released in 2017 on Rock Action and won the Scottish Album of the Year Award the same year. Sacred Paws then followed with tours and appearances on British indie stages and radio formats, notably a session for BBC 6 Music and a slot at Celtic Connections. The second album, Run Around the Sun, came out in 2019, followed by the single “Another Day” in 2024 and the album Jump Into Life in 2025. With Sacred Paws, post-punk energy remains central, but is consistently tempered by clear pop lines, shared vocals and a continual taste for shifting rhythmic motifs.
