Secretsundaze

Born in the London club scene in the early 2000s, Secretsundaze originally grew out of the nights started by James Priestley and Giles Smith before becoming a broader name associated with a label, programming activity and several formats. Rooted in club house and techno culture, Secretsundaze has developed an aesthetic that blends deep-house groove, techno tension, breakbeat energy and touches of trance, with a marked taste for supple rhythms and understated climaxes. Over the years Secretsundaze has moved between clubs, festivals, radio and record releases, while remaining connected to London and its network of DJs, producers and dancers. The project’s discography includes releases on its own label as well as on WARNING, Peach Discs and Echocentric. More recently, Secretsundaze has also asserted itself as a standalone artist project led by James Priestley, while the name continues to encompass other extensions, including an NTS residency and the live project Spirit of Sundaze Ensemble. In this way Secretsundaze denotes both a chapter of London’s nightlife and a current output focused on precise, mobile dance music rooted in the British underground.
