Matt Rife
Born in 1995 in Columbus, Ohio, Matt Rife first made his name as a stand-up comedian before developing a parallel career as an actor for television and the web. He started performing as a teenager in Ohio clubs and later in Los Angeles, honing a style focused on everyday observation, romantic and family relationships, and a large amount of improvisation with the audience. His career gained wider media exposure through regular appearances on MTV’s improvisational comedy show Wild ’n Out, followed by guest spots on American series such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Fresh Off the Boat, as well as roles in several independent productions. On record, Rife has released several filmed stand-up specials and albums, including Only Fans (2021), Matthew Steven Rife (2023), Walking Red Flag (2023) and Natural Selection (2023), built around autobiographical stories, commentary on contemporary culture, and sections of crowd work. Posting clips of these performances—particularly his exchanges with audience members—has boosted his social-media presence and accompanies an active touring schedule, including the Problemattic World Tour across the United States, Europe and Australia, placing Rife in constant motion between club stages, larger venues and digital distribution.
