Patson

Born in Côte d’Ivoire, Patrice Kouassi Mian, known as Patson, has built his career as a comedian and actor mainly in France, where he has made a name for himself on the stand-up scene. Patson first drew attention in 2006 during the inaugural season of the Jamel Comedy Club, which quickly led him to perform his own shows: Patson Show in 2007; Yes we can papa from 2009, notably presented at L’Olympia in 2011; then Mon nom est Patson in 2013; and Dr Patson, Rirothérapeute in 2018. His comedy relies on observations of everyday life, the relationships between Africa, the Antilles and France, and a very oral, street-influenced language shaped by urban culture and the diasporas. Alongside his stage work, Patson hosted a midday program on the radio station Africa no 1 for nearly fifteen years and appeared in several French comedies, including Débarquement immédiat (2016), Qu’est-ce qu’on a encore fait au Bon Dieu? and Premier de la classe (2019). He has also pursued occasional musical projects—collaborating, for example, with Mokobé and Marvin—and in 2023 claimed an unofficial record at Théâtre Le République in Paris for over six hours of continuous stand-up.
