Mo Gilligan

Born in London in 1988, Mo Gilligan grew up between Lambeth and Camberwell in a family of Jamaican and Saint Lucian heritage, before making his mark on the British cultural scene with a series of sketches released on social media in the late 2010s. Gilligan first honed his voice in stand-up, playing club stages and mid-size venues. His material is rooted in observational comedy about everyday life, family dynamics, work, class relations, and British urban culture, often featuring recurring characters and references to the Caribbean diaspora and the aesthetics of grime and rap. This stage work led to collaborations with Channel 4—most notably The Big Narstie Show alongside rapper Big Narstie—and later to hosting The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, blending comedy, live music, and guests from across creative scenes. In parallel, he has toured multiple shows in England and internationally, resulting in filmed releases, including the 2019 special Mo Gilligan: Momentum, and he appears regularly in mainstream television entertainment while continuing to perform stand-up in venues.
