Virginie Hocq
Born in Nivelles, Belgium, in 1975, Virginie Hocq has built a career spanning comedy, theatre, film and television. She trained at the Académie de Braine‑l’Alleud and then at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she won a first prize in comedy. After early appearances on café‑theatre stages and with the Magic Land Théâtre, she established herself as a solo performer with Dis oui! in 1999, followed by Qui a dit faible? (2003), C’est tout moi (2005), and later Pas d’inquiétude, Sur le fil (2014) and Ou presque (2020). Her work blends acting, a strong sense of rhythm and a gallery of characters in an observation-based humour nourished by improvisation, which she also practiced competitively in Belgian improvisation leagues. At the same time she has maintained a steady screen career, with film roles in Un fil à la patte by Michel Deville (2005), La Liste de mes envies (2014), Mystère à Saint‑Tropez and Barbaque (2021), and television appearances in Vive la colo!, Vaugand, Meurtres dans le Morvan and, since 2024, Flair de famille. On stage she has also performed in Les Monologues du vagin, Treize à table and L’Amour chez les autres (2024), and in 2025 she and Jean‑Marc Victor are presenting an adaptation of Orgueil et Préjugés... ou presque.
