Magali Ripoll
Born in Burgundy and raised in Saint-Raphaël, Provence, Magali Ripoll trained early in music theory before taking up the accordion and later classical piano as her principal instruments. As a teenager she performed at dances and concerts on the Côte d’Azur alongside her father, a drummer, and formed her first band at high school, grounding her repertoire in French song, variety and popular music. After earning her baccalauréat, she chose to join an orchestra in Angers rather than attend the Nice conservatory, which allowed her to accompany artists such as Herbert Léonard and Julie Pietri on stage. She then moved to Paris to complete her training in theatre, dance, singing and percussion, with a strong interest in Latin music. A versatile vocalist and instrumentalist, Magali Ripoll toured with Line Renaud, Emmanuel Moire, Richard Gotainer, Nâdiya and Lorie — for whom she wrote the song 'Ange et démon' — while developing a style that blends variety, francophone song and pop colours. From 2011 she joined Charles Aznavour’s circle and accompanied him on accordion and keyboards for numerous dates in France and internationally, a collaboration that ended with the singer’s passing. In parallel, from 2007 Magali Ripoll became part of the television show N’oubliez pas les paroles! on France 2, where she plays a central role in the orchestra, guiding contestants in song and providing a strong stage presence around the accordion and keyboard. This television work is articulated with projects as a radio columnist and actress, through which she continues her work on covers, musical parody and the transmission of a popular francophone repertoire.
