Les Bodin's
Born in the rural areas of central France, the comic duo Les Bodin's have, since the mid-1990s, developed a universe focused on rural life and its contrasts with the contemporary world. Formed by Vincent Dubois and Jean-Christian Fraiscinet, Les Bodin's build their work around two recurring characters: the elderly countrywoman Maria Bodin and her son Christian, an adult who stayed on the farm. These figures provide the basis for a persistent examination of family, generational and social tensions. Initially performed in small venues and on regional stages, their shows evolved into more ambitious formats with Les Bodin's grandeur nature, created outdoors on a farm in Touraine before being adapted for an indoor tour. The duo later expanded the Bodin's universe to film with Mariage chez les Bodin's and Les Bodin's en Thaïlande, placing the same characters in different contexts. Appearing on stage, on screen and through video recordings released online, Les Bodin's remain committed to a popular-theatre aesthetic—a mix of situational comedy, regional accent, rapid-fire dialogue and precise references to agricultural daily life—that structures their whole body of work.
