Florence Mendez
Born in Etterbeek in 1987 and raised between Brussels and Walloon Brabant, Florence Mendez initially pursued a path away from the stage before turning to comedy in the mid-2010s. After beginning as a co-writer for Dan Gagnon in 2016, she performed her first sketches at the Kings of Comedy Club in Ixelles and started appearing on radio station La Première. Her first show, originally titled Oh et puis merde and later reworked as Délicate, took shape in 2017 and evolved to include more personal themes linked to panic disorder, autism and mental health, which became central to her writing. Florence Mendez crafts direct, written and autobiographical stand-up in which social observation, self-deprecation and questions of neuroatypicality meet head-on. Her career also spans the press, television and radio, with collaborations for Canal+, Pure, Téva, France Inter and, from 2024, Radio Nova. Alongside her stage work, she published the novel Accident de personne in 2024, extending her writing practice already marked by concerns of intimacy, language and public speech.
