Harlem Gospel Choir
The Harlem Gospel Choir is the oldest gospel choir still active in the United States, founded in Harlem in 1986 in a spirit of sharing, emancipation, and cultural celebration. As a global ambassador of gospel, the collective brings together exceptional voices from New York’s Baptist and Pentecostal churches, carrying forward a legacy nourished by spirituality, the struggle for civil rights, and African‑American history. Their repertoire blends traditional gospel, spirituals and soul influences, paying tribute to figures such as Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin and Martin Luther King Jr. From iconic venues to major international stages, their concerts are moments of collective uplift — marked by fervor, vocal power and an infectious energy that makes the Harlem Gospel Choir as much a musical as an emotional experience.
