Ellinoa
Under the name Ellinoa, French composer, vocalist and conductor Camille Durand develops work that sits between creative jazz, orchestral writing, experimental pop and improvisation. Trained notably at the Bobigny Conservatory and later at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood, Ellinoa pursues composition, ensemble leadership and vocal practice in parallel, with particular attention to narrative forms and the interplay between voice, ensemble and fiction. In 2014 she founded the Wanderlust Orchestra, a group of around fifteen musicians that became the main framework for her research at the crossroads of jazz, symphonic music and film music; the project resulted in the albums Wanderlust Orchestra (2018) and Ville totale (2022). Other formats punctuate her career, such as the Ellinoa Sextet with Old Fire in 2015, or Ophelia, moving toward a more pop-oriented and experimental writing, documented by The Ballad of Ophelia (2020). Ellinoa also appears in varied contexts like SHADES, Thomas Julienne’s Theorem of Joy, or several programmes of the Orchestre National de Jazz. Based in the French jazz and hybrid music scene, Ellinoa alternates personal creations, commissions, collaborations and teaching, and maintains a regular activity in education and project support.
