Daïda
The name DAÏDA refers to the Daïdarabotchi, a giant creature from Japanese mythology — an image that runs through the music of this group, which is committed to electric, progressive jazz. DAÏDA develops a compositional approach in which improvisation remains central but is shaped within tighter forms, nourished as much by the energy of contemporary popular music as by the language of modern jazz. The project juxtaposes nervous pulses, expansive melodies, tense passages and more airy moments, playing on the dialogue between acoustic textures and electric intensity. In Daïda’s aesthetic, references such as Christian Scott, Joe Hisaishi and Radiohead translate into a taste for contrasts, narrative atmospheres and climaxes verging on trance, without diminishing the space given to soloists and collective interplay. DAÏDA thus belongs to a current jazz scene open to exchanges between composition, groove, lyricism and sonic exploration, with music conceived as much for live performance as for listening.
