Bruit
From Toulouse, the quartet BRUIT ≤ develops instrumental music at the crossroads of post‑rock, ambient, drone and a compositional approach close to chamber music, with a marked focus on dynamics, textures and tension builds. BRUIT ≤ released its first EP, Monolith, in 2018 on Elusive Sound, then refined this approach on The machine is burning and now everyone knows it could happen again in 2021, their debut full‑length released the year they joined Pelagic Records. That record more clearly established the band’s language: long compositions, strings, contemplative soundscapes and sonic explosions, without relying on vocals as a central element. From there BRUIT ≤ toured European stages and appeared at festivals such as Roadburn, ArcTanGent, Amplifest and Dunk! Festival, while sharing bills with acts like Amenra and EZ3kiel. In 2023 BRUIT ≤ took a more atmospheric turn with the EP Apologie du temps perdu, centered on slower, meditative forms, before a period touring as M83’s backing band. The group returned with The Age of Ephemerality, released in 2025, an album recorded between the Pyrenees and Toulouse, where BRUIT ≤ continues to balance collective power, orchestral writing and sonic abstraction.
