Nightwave

Born in Slovenia and based in Glasgow, Maya Medvesek, known as Nightwave, has built a career as a DJ, producer and vocalist rooted in British club culture since the early 2010s. Nightwave produces electronic music that blends techno, electro, house, bass music and breakbeat rhythms, with a direct focus on the dancefloor and an aesthetic shaped by rave sounds and tight, dry bass. Active both in the studio and behind the decks, Nightwave established herself on Glasgow’s club stages and then moved into a wider circuit, appearing at festivals and events such as Sonar, Movement, Outlook and Exit. In 2019 she released three records — Psychic Tonic on DEXT Recordings, Rainbow Body on DABJ and The Journey on Musar Recordings — and contributed mixes to specialist outlets including Mixmag, Crack, DJ Mag, Groove Mag, Ransom Note and Boiler Room. Her trajectory places Nightwave at the intersection of UK bass heritage, techno and soundsystem energy, with sets and productions designed for the club rather than strict genre confines.
