DJ T-1000

Born in Detroit, Alan D. Oldham has since the late 1980s pursued a distinctive path in American techno, both as a DJ, producer, graphic designer and comic book author. Under the name DJ T-1000, an alias adopted in the early 1990s during his time within Underground Resistance, he aligns with a techno aesthetic that is direct, futuristic and functional, nourished by minimalism, electro, industrial and a pronounced sense of mechanical rhythm. Prior to that, Alan Oldham hosted the Fast Forward program on WDET in Detroit from 1987 to 1992, where he broadcast techno, hip hop, punk and industrial music. His career is also tied to the graphic design of Detroit's scene and the Dutch label Djax, for which he created numerous sleeves and visuals. In terms of discography, DJ T-1000 notably released the Enginefloatreactor album in 1995, followed by Progress in 1999 on Tresor and Neutra in 2002 on Pure Sonik. His music travels between Detroit, Berlin and European techno scenes, with a constant penchant for dry structures, tense sequences and urban moods. Parallel to DJ T-1000, Alan Oldham pursues a personal visual work that extends the same science-fictional and industrial imagery.
