Trust Fund
Born in Bristol around Ellis Jones, Trust Fund took shape in the early 2010s as a project with a variable lineup, carried on record and on stage by a changing circle of musicians until 2018. Trust Fund’s music sits between indie rock, indie pop and folk, marked by direct songwriting, spare melodies and a sound often shaped by DIY and lo-fi approaches. After the EPs I've Been Ages (2012) and Don't Let Them Begin (2013), and a split with Joanna Gruesome in 2014, Trust Fund released two albums in 2015, No One's Coming for Us and Seems Unfair, before continuing with We Have Always Lived in the Harolds in 2016, recorded after Jones moved to Leeds, and Bringing the Backline in 2018. During that first period Trust Fund toured with acts including Los Campesinos!, Speedy Ortiz and Mitski, placing it within a British and international indie scene attentive to modest formats and everyday songs. Put on pause in 2018, Trust Fund resurfaced in 2022 at Jones’s instigation, first with new singles and then with the 2024 album Has It Been a While.
