Warrant

Based in Düsseldorf, Germany, Warrant is part of the speed metal wave that emerged in the mid‑1980s — not to be confused with the American hard‑rock band of the same name. Formed around singer and bassist Jörg Juraschek, Warrant first made its mark on the local scene with straightforward speed metal characterized by fast riffs, high‑pitched vocals and songwriting that draws on both traditional heavy metal and early thrash influences. After an EP titled First Strike in the mid‑1980s, the band released The Enforcer in 1985, an album that established the main features of its aesthetic: compact song structures, brisk tempos and a dark atmosphere. Early involvement from musicians such as guitarist Uwe Lulis situates Warrant within a network of German acts active on the metal scene at the time. The band later slowed its activity but has been reissued regularly, which has maintained interest in The Enforcer among classic speed‑metal fans. Warrant eventually returned to the studio with Metal Bridge in 2014, reconnecting with a sound deeply rooted in 1980s conventions while slightly modernizing the production, and continues to perform occasionally on European metal stages.
