Twiztid

Formed in Warren, a suburb of Detroit, Twiztid brings together Jamie Madrox and Monoxide Child, initially active in House of Krazees before launching this duo in 1997. Their trajectory is rooted in the Midwest underground hip-hop, with a sound that blends horrorcore, hardcore rap and rap-rock incursions, working dark atmospheres, macabre narratives, a marked black humor, and sometimes more melodic hooks. Associated initially with the Psychopathic Records ecosystem and the juggalo scene, Twiztid became known with Mostasteless (1997, reissued in 1999), then followed with Freek Show (2000), Mirror Mirror (2002) and The Green Book (2003), which show a progressive broadening of their writing and productions. Over the years Twiztid alternates studio albums, EPs and side projects, while collaborating with artists linked to their circle such as Insane Clown Posse, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Tech N9ne, Esham or Prozak. After leaving Psychopathic Records in 2012, Twiztid continues their activity independently and develops their own framework with Majik Ninja Entertainment. Albums like Abominationz (2012), The Darkness (2015) and The Continuous Evilution of Life’s ?’s (2017) extend this aesthetic between horror, rock and rap, carried by the complementarity of the two voices, one more abrasive, the other more flexible, which remains at the core of Twiztid’s identity.
