Trooper

Formed in the mid-1990s in Târgoviște, Romania, Trooper emerged on the local heavy metal scene by blending classic influences with a melodic approach. Driven by the vocals of Alin “Coiotu” Dincă and the guitars of Aurelian Dincă and Cristian Oftez, the band forged a sound rooted in traditional heavy metal, marked by brisk riffs, prominent melodic lines, and occasional forays into hard rock and power metal. Gradually establishing itself on the Bucharest circuit, Trooper drew attention in the late 1990s and early 2000s through a busy schedule of gigs and demos, before developing a discography centered on original compositions in both Romanian and English. Trooper’s lyrics address everyday life and social relations as well as more reflective themes, presented as direct, tightly structured songs. The group’s core—rounded out by Ionuț “Oscar” Covalciuc on drums and Ionuț Rădulescu on bass—has remained relatively stable, allowing Trooper to retain a recognizable sonic identity while refining its writing over the years and across tours on Romania’s rock and metal stages.
