Trans-X

Formed in the early 1980s in Montreal, Trans‑X was built around Quebec musician and producer Pascal Languirand amid the rise of synth‑pop and club electronic music. With a sound based on repetitive synthetic sequences, processed vocals and a tempo close to italo disco and hi‑NRG, Trans‑X quickly found its place on dance floors—most notably with the single "Living on Video", released in 1983 and widely played across Europe and North America. Over the years Trans‑X remained a variable‑lineup project, with Languirand working with different singers and instrumentalists depending on the period and the tours, while also pursuing more ambient and new‑age work under his own name. Revived from the 1990s and especially during the 2000s on 80s‑nostalgia stages, Trans‑X released numerous re‑recordings, remixes and new tracks that extended the original aesthetic toward eurodance and electro, while retaining a recognisable melodic synth‑pop core and a strong emphasis on live performance.
