Born in New York in 1975, Veronica Vasicka has since the early 2000s developed an activity at the crossroads of DJing, radio and record publishing, focused on the margins of electronic music. After work in photography and the co-founding of East Village Radio, where she hosted a weekly show from 2003 to 2014, Vasicka launched the Minimal Wave label in 2005 to reissue rare recordings from the 1970s and 1980s synth wave, cold wave, minimal synth and new wave scenes. This archival and reissue work later extended to Cititrax, an imprint oriented toward more contemporary productions, between dark electronic, house, EBM and synthetic post-punk forms. In parallel, Vasicka built a DJ trajectory marked by a precise selection, linking analog rarities, austere club tracks, Italo disco, proto-house and European electronic music. She also curated the compilations The Minimal Wave Tapes Volume One in 2010 and The Minimal Wave Tapes Volume Two in 2012. Based in New York, Veronica Vasicka continues this transmission work on radio, notably on NTS, in an approach that links the history of underground scenes with current dancefloor practices.
