Trixie Whitley
Born in Ghent in 1987, Trixie Whitley grew up between Belgium and New York in an artistic environment shaped by the music of her father, Chris Whitley. She has developed a repertoire where rock, soul, blues, folk and dark pop intersect, marked by taut songwriting and often spare arrangements. After starting out on the New York scene, she joined Black Dub, the project led by Daniel Lanois with Brian Blade and Daryl Johnson; the album Black Dub was released in 2010. That experience placed her in a register that blends vocal intensity, slow groove and atmospheric textures. As a solo artist, Trixie Whitley released Fourth Corner in 2013, Porta Bohemica in 2016 and Lacuna in 2019. From record to record her approach has moved toward more stripped-down forms, while remaining rooted in blues and soul. On stage she alternates between clubs, concert halls and festivals, in formats where vocal presence remains central and the songs progress between restraint, rhythmic tension and contained lyricism.
