Ben Mazué

Between Nice, where he grew up, and Paris, where he settled, Ben Mazué has crafted a French chanson rooted in pop and a phrasing close to spoken word, driven by a marked taste for intimate storytelling and everyday observation. Born in 1981, he initially began medical studies but gradually turned to writing and the stage, joining Paris’s slam scene in the mid‑2000s and attracting attention in 2006 during the CQFD contest organized by Les Inrockuptibles. A first EP, “Niqquedouille,” was released in 2008, followed by a self‑titled album in 2011 that established the foundations of Ben Mazué’s style, between melodic songs and spoken‑sung texts. He deepened this personal vein with “33 ans” (2014) and “La femme idéale” (2017), which show a stronger focus on pop arrangements and sentimental storytelling. With “Paradis” (2020), Ben Mazué continued exploring highly autobiographical writing, often structured around monologues and life fragments. Regularly on tour, he has developed on stage a narrated-concert format alternating songs and spoken interludes. In addition to his own albums, he also writes for other artists and occasionally collaborates, notably with Grand Corps Malade and Gaël Faye on the track “La vie est belle.”
