Treponem Pal

Born in Paris in 1986, Treponem Pal emerged on the French alternative scene with an approach that mixes industrial metal, noise rock, hardcore, funk and electronic elements. The band early on developed a sound built on abrasive guitars, repetitive rhythms and a tension derived as much from post‑punk as from metal, with significant emphasis on groove and mechanical textures. Treponem Pal released a self‑titled debut in 1988, followed by Aggravation in 1991 and Excess & Overdrive in 1993 — three records that helped establish their presence on European rock and metal stages. With Higher in 1997, Treponem Pal moved toward a more open songwriting approach that incorporated electronic sequences and danceable pulses, without abandoning the density of the guitars. The group's trajectory was shaped by several lineup changes around singer Marco Neves, while retaining a recognizable identity between frontal energy, funky syncopations and industrial atmospheres. After a more intermittent period, Treponem Pal resumed recording activity with Weird Machine in 2008, continuing a distinctive course in the history of French alternative music.
