The Spook School

Formed in Edinburgh in the early 2010s, The Spook School brings together Nye Todd, Adam Todd, Niall McCamley and Anna Cory in a Scottish quartet that blends indie pop, melodic punk and noise pop with direct songwriting and tense choruses. The group sits within a British DIY scene attentive to questions of gender, identity and representation, themes that run through its lyrics without taking precedence over the songs' effectiveness. After the initial singles and EPs, The Spook School released Dress Up in 2013, followed by Try To Be Hopeful in 2015 and Could It Be Different? in 2018, three albums that show an evolution from a lo-fi, angular sound to a more expansive production, while keeping taut guitars, vibrant backing vocals and a live energy that is very marked. The Spook School has toured the United Kingdom, Europe and North America, often alongside bands from contemporary indie and punk circuits. In this context, The Spook School has built a repertoire where alternative pop, punk urgency and a keen sense of melody intersect.
