Tom Trago

Based in Amsterdam, Tom Trago emerged on the Dutch scene in the mid-2000s with a house sound open to the legacies of disco, boogie, synth-funk and Detroit techno, also nourished by broken beat, soul, jazz, Latin music and afrobeat. After beginning as a DJ in Amsterdam’s coffee shops, Tom Trago released the single “Live With The BBQ” in 2006 on the Rush Hour label, a starting point for a career alternating club productions, DJ sets and live performances. His work took a broader shape on the albums Voyage Direct (2009), Iris (2011), The Light Fantastic (2013) and Bergen (2018). In 2010 Tom Trago founded the Voyage Direct label, conceived as a circulation space for producers and musicians of the Dutch electronic scene. Over the years he has also developed collaborations with San Proper, Awanto 3, Romanthony and Seth Troxler. His music favors house rhythms, warm textures and a compositional approach that balances dancefloor effectiveness, melodic lines and influences from several Black and electronic traditions.
