The Radiators

Formed in New Orleans in 1978, The Radiators are part of a local tradition that blends swamp rock, blues, rhythm and blues, funk, soul and southern rock. The quintet originally brought together Ed Volker, Dave Malone, Camile Baudoin, Reggie Scanlan and Frank Bua Jr., maintaining a rare personnel stability for over three decades. Initially rooted in Louisiana clubs, The Radiators developed a repertoire mixing original compositions and covers drawn from New Orleans’s musical culture, while establishing a lasting presence on the concert and American touring circuit. Their discography includes Work Done on Premises (1980), Heat Generation (1981), Law of the Fish (1987), Zig-Zaggin’ Through Ghostland (1989), Total Evaporation (1990), New Dark Ages (1995), The Radiators (2001) and Dreaming Out Loud (2006). Closely associated with their city’s scene, The Radiators played the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival from 1979 to 2011, and returned for occasional reunions after ending regular activities in 2011. Since then they have continued to appear episodically, notably at Tipitina’s, a venue closely linked to their history.
