Todd Edwards

Born in Bloomfield, New Jersey, Todd Edwards established himself in the early 1990s with a highly distinctive approach to house, garage house and the emerging styles of speed garage and UK garage, built from chopped, reassembled and looped vocals over supple, syncopated rhythms. He launched his career on the New York house scene, notably via Nervous Records, releasing music under his own name and several aliases, including The Messenger and Sample Choir. Tracks such as “Guide My Soul” (1993) and “Saved My Life” (1994) marked this initial period, before his remixes—most notably for St Germain on “Alabama Blues”—circulated widely across European house and garage scenes. Edwards’s discography subsequently grew to include Prima Edizione (1999), Full On (Volume 1) (2001), Full On (Volume 2) (2003), Odyssey (2006) and Full On (Volume 3) (2007). His path also crossed that of Daft Punk, contributing co-production and vocals to “Face to Face” (2001) and later collaborating on “Fragments of Time” (2013). After a period of relative withdrawal, Todd Edwards gradually returned to prominence in the 2010s, while his catalogue was reissued digitally from 2021.
