The Midnight

Sparked by the meeting of American singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle and Danish producer Tim McEwan during a 2012 writing session in Los Angeles, The Midnight has established itself as a synthwave duo that blends electronic pop, 1980s rock influences, and cinematic atmospheres. Based in Los Angeles, The Midnight has developed a sound world defined by melodic synthesizers, frequent use of saxophone, and storytelling-driven vocals, often focused on adolescence, the urban night, and digital nostalgia. The project first took shape around the EP Days of Thunder in 2014, followed by the albums Endless Summer (2016) and Kids (2018), which cement a more pop-leaning, narrative approach. The Midnight continued with Nocturnal in 2017 and the album Monsters in 2020, where the duo broadened its palette toward a darker aesthetic, before returning in 2022 with Heroes, exploring sounds closer to alternative rock while retaining its synthwave foundations. On stage, The Midnight brings these productions to life with an expanded lineup and tours regularly across North America and Europe, performing in concert halls and at festivals dedicated to electronic and independent music.
