The Locos

The ska-punk project The Locos was born in Madrid in the mid-2000s and formed around Pipi, the singer and frontman formerly of Ska-P. He took advantage of his previous band’s hiatus to develop a repertoire focused on fast punk rock, heavily marked by ska, brass and collective choruses. The Locos continue the Spanish alternative scene, singing mainly in Spanish and addressing social and political themes in a vein close to engaged Latin-European punk. The group released Jaula de grillos in 2006 and Energía inagotable in 2008, which established The Locos on the circuits of independent festivals and venues for alternative music in Spain, Europe and Latin America. On stage The Locos favour a direct, highly rhythmic approach where the blend of ska, punk and festive touches relies on a fast rhythm section, melodic brass and chanting choruses, extending the Madrid ska-punk aesthetic while focusing it more tightly around Pipi.
