The Frank And Walters

Born in Cork, Ireland in the late 1980s, The Frank And Walters operate within an indie pop and alternative rock vein characterized by clear melodies, jittery guitars and choruses rooted in British pop. The band formed in 1989 around Paul Linehan, Ashley Keating and Niall Linehan, later evolving with Kevin Pedreschi and then Rory Murphy, while Cian Corbett joined on keyboards. After the EPs EP1 and EP.2 on Setanta in 1991, The Frank And Walters signed to Go! Discs and recorded the EP Happy Busman with Edwyn Collins. The debut album Trains, Boats and Planes was released in 1992 and established their direct, melodic sound, notably showcased by the track After All. Following an extended hiatus, the band resumed with Grand Parade in 1997, then Beauty Becomes More Than Life in 1999 and Glass in 2000, maintaining a seemingly light pop songwriting often tinged with discreet melancholy. In the 2000s and 2010s they released A Renewed Interest in Happiness (2006), Greenwich Mean Time (2012) and Songs for the Walking Wounded (2016), while remaining active onstage in Ireland, the United Kingdom and occasionally in Europe, the United States and Japan.
