The Dunwells

Formed in Pudsey, near Leeds, The Dunwells emerged in 2009 around brothers Joseph and David Dunwell, before settling as a quartet with Rob Clayton and Adam Taylor. Having played pubs, open mics and BBC Radio Leeds early on, The Dunwells initially developed a blend of folk rock, country rock and alternative rock, nourished by Americana, acoustic guitars and tight vocal harmonies. Signed to Playing In Traffic Records in 2011, the band recorded Blind Sighted Faith in 2012 with producer John Porter, then split its time between the United Kingdom and the United States, appearing at stages such as SXSW, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo. In 2013, Follow the Road offered the UK market a reworking of part of that early repertoire. Subsequent releases show a gradual shift toward more indie songwriting and broader arrangements, sometimes laced with subtle electronic elements, as on the EP Show Me Emotion (2014), the EP Lucky Ones (2015) and the album Light Up the Sky (2016). The Dunwells followed with Something In the Water in 2019, situated between British songwriting, melodic rock and contemporary folk.
