Taylor Dayne
Born Leslie Wunderman in Manhattan and raised between the Bronx and Long Island, Taylor Dayne emerged in the late 1980s on the American pop scene with a repertoire spanning dance‑pop, freestyle, adult contemporary and white soul. After starting out in the rock groups Felony and Next and releasing two dance singles in the mid‑1980s under the name Les Lee, she adopted the stage name Taylor Dayne and broke through with "Tell It to My Heart", which led to a self‑titled debut album in 1988. Her career continued with Can't Fight Fate in 1989, featuring both club tracks and pop ballads, followed by Soul Dancing (1993), Naked Without You (1998) and Satisfied (2008). Taylor Dayne's style rests on pop productions strongly influenced by the 1980s and 1990s, danceable rhythms, direct choruses and a vocal delivery aimed at melodic effectiveness. Over time she moved between pop, dance and television stages, appeared on Broadway in Aida in 2001 and developed a concurrent acting career in film and television, while continuing to release dance singles.
