Supersuckers
Formed in the late 1980s in Tucson, Arizona, Supersuckers quickly developed a rock sound that blends punk energy, straightforward hard rock and clear affinities with American country. Soon based in Seattle, the band became part of the Sub Pop scene, where their first albums The Smoke of Hell (1992) and La Mano Cornuda (1994) established an abrasive sound centered on guitar riffs and Eddie Spaghetti’s vocals. With The Sacrilicious Sounds of the Supersuckers (1995) and especially Must’ve Been High (1997), Supersuckers fully embraced a country dimension, later alternating electric records and more roots-oriented projects such as The Evil Powers of Rock ’n’ Roll (1999), Get It Together (2008), Holdin’ the Bag (2015) and Play That Rock ’n’ Roll (2020). Largely built around Eddie Spaghetti, the band has continued to perform regularly — in rock clubs, at festivals and on international tours — delivering shows that mix fast numbers, punk-rock borrowings and country-tinged songs.
