Steve Wynn

Born in Los Angeles in 1960, Steve Wynn emerged in the early 1980s on the back of the Californian independent rock scene with The Dream Syndicate, a band he co-founded with Kendra Smith that soon became associated with the Paisley Underground movement. His songwriting evolved between alternative rock, garage tension, psychedelic heritage and abrasive guitars, notably on The Days of Wine and Roses (1982), Medicine Show (1984) and Ghost Stories (1988). After the band's split, Wynn embarked on a solo career that broadened his palette toward a mix of folk-rock, Americana and singer-songwriter rock, while retaining the nerviness of his early work. Kerosene Man (1990), Melting in the Dark (1995), Here Come the Miracles (2001) and Crossing Dragon Bridge (2008) mark different stages of this evolution, often featuring collaborations with musicians such as Peter Buck, Johnette Napolitano and the band Come. Wynn has also pursued several side projects, including Steve Wynn & The Miracle 3, Danny & Dusty with Dan Stuart, and The Baseball Project. Since The Dream Syndicate reformed in 2012, Wynn has divided his activity between the band and his personal projects, with new Dream Syndicate albums followed by the solo record Make It Right in 2024.
