The Dear Hunter
Born around singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Casey Crescenzo in Providence, Rhode Island, The Dear Hunter took shape in 2005 initially as a solo project before becoming a full band. Emerging from the American alternative scene after Crescenzo's departure from The Receiving End of Sirens, The Dear Hunter developed a songwriting approach that blends progressive rock, art rock, indie rock, orchestral pop and, on early recordings, traces of post-hardcore. Their trajectory is largely built around the conceptual Acts series, begun with Act I: The Lake South, The River North (2006), continued with Act II: The Meaning of, and All Things Regarding Ms. Leading (2007) and Act III: Life and Death (2009). The Dear Hunter then broadened its spectrum with The Color Spectrum (2011), a project of varied stylistic palettes, followed by Migrant (2013), a less narrative record. The band returned to its initial cycle with Act IV: Rebirth in Reprise (2015) and Act V: Hymns with the Devil in Confessional (2016), before opening another fictional universe with Antimai (2022). In The Dear Hunter's work, the songwriting alternates between pop formats, chamber arrangements, symphonic swells and tempo changes, always guided by a strong sense of musical storytelling.
