The Datsuns
Originally from Cambridge, New Zealand, The Datsuns emerged around the turn of the 2000s on the international garage rock wave, blending classic hard rock, punk energy and a seventies legacy. The quartet led by bassist and singer Dolf de Borst first attracted attention on the local scene before spending part of their time in the UK, where The Datsuns played clubs, tours and festivals within a revitalized independent rock circuit. Their self-titled debut “The Datsuns” was released in 2002, followed by “Outta Sight / Outta Mind” in 2004 (produced with John Paul Jones), then “Smoke & Mirrors” (2006), “Headstunts” (2008), “Death Rattle Boogie” (2012), “Deep Sleep” (2014) and “Eye to Eye” (2021), marking the stages of a discography attached to rock’s classic formats. Musically, The Datsuns rely on prominent twin guitars, fast riffs, direct rhythms and a high-pitched vocal that evokes both 70s hard rock and contemporary garage, with songwriting focused on song effectiveness and live impact.
