Sergio Dalma
Born in 1964 in Sabadell, Catalonia, Sergio Dalma emerged in the late 1980s on the Spanish pop scene with a repertoire focused on romantic ballads and Latin-style songs. His debut album, “Esa chica es mía” (1989), established that blend of melodic pop and slow rhythms, supported by a deep voice and very articulated phrasing. His participation for Spain in the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest with “Bailar pegados” was a turning point and launched a long-lasting career, featuring regular recordings and tours across Spanish-speaking countries. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s the artist explored various shades of contemporary adult pop, ranging from orchestrated ballads and radio-friendly formats to approaches closer to the Italian canzone. This latter direction was made explicit with “Via Dalma” (2010), an album of Italian classics interpreted in Spanish, which reinforced his image as an interpreter devoted to large, sentimental melodies. Since then Sergio Dalma has alternated studio projects, reinterpretation albums and occasional collaborations with other singers from the Hispanic sphere, while maintaining a strong anchor in romantic pop sung in Spanish.
