Born in Wolverhampton, England, Marius Lucas Antonio Listhrop first came to prominence in the early 2010s as a video creator under the name Mazzi Maz, before pivoting to music as the vocalist of the rock/rap band Myth City. From 2016 onward, he launched his solo project Scarlxrd, defined by a strong online presence and a dark visual aesthetic influenced by internet culture and certain manga conventions. His work blends rap, trap, and metal-adjacent sonics, with heavy electronic beats, saturated bass, and systematic use of screaming, bringing his tracks close to metalcore energy while retaining hip-hop-derived structures. Projects such as Lxrdszn (2017), Dxxm (2018), and Infinity (2019) progressively cement this synthesis of aggressive trap, screamed hooks, and more melodic passages, disseminated primarily via streaming platforms and a steady flow of videos. Scarlxrd performs on alternative rap and metal stages in the UK and internationally, with sets built on relentless vocal intensity and direct engagement with the audience. His lyrics repeatedly address isolation, frustration, self-construction, and the pressures of online exposure, in a short, upfront, deliberately abrasive format.
