Stefan Goldmann

Born in 1978 and linked to both Berlin and Sofia, Stefan Goldmann has since the early 2000s developed a career situated between techno, minimal house, contemporary composition and experimental forms. His first maxis appeared on Classic, Ovum, Perlon, Innervisions or Cocoon, before he founded in 2007 the Berlin label Macro with Finn Johannsen, a structure that accompanies both his club productions and more abstract projects. Goldmann then broadened his scope with albums such as The Transitory State and Voices Of The Dead in 2008, 17:50 in 2012, Industry in 2014, Tacit Script and Veiki in 2019, then Vector Rituals in 2022 and Alluvium in 2024. His work is distinguished by an approach to rhythm that is often off-kilter, by dry or moving electronic textures, and by writing that makes pulsation, space and formal research dialogue. Long-associated with the Berghain ecosystem and Panorama Bar, where he also conceived the Elektroakustischer Salon series, Stefan Goldmann also undertakes commissions for stage, image and institutional venues, from the Nationaltheater Mannheim to MaerzMusik, via the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Kyoto or the Berlin Philharmonie, where he participated in the launch of the Strom festival in 2020.
