Sass Jordan
Born in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and raised in Montreal from childhood, Sass Jordan emerged on the Canadian rock scene in the late 1980s with a blend of hard rock, blues rock and roots sounds, marked by a rough, soulful voice. She drew attention with Tell Somebody in 1988, then consolidated her songwriting and taste for radio‑friendly rock on Racine (1992) and Rats (1994), before continuing into the late 1990s with the album Present (1998). A regular presence on Canadian and North American rock stages, she alternated solo concerts, opening slots and collaborations, including a duet with Joe Cocker on “Trust in Me,” recorded for The Bodyguard soundtrack. Alongside her discography, Jordan made numerous screen appearances and pursued side projects, and helped raise rock’s profile in Canada by serving as a judge on Canadian Idol in the mid‑2000s. In the 2010s and 2020s she shifted more toward blues and American roots, an evolution exemplified by Rebel Moon Blues (2020) and Bitches Blues (2022), where her approach remains focused on live energy, electric guitars and a vocal register influenced by 1960s–1970s rhythm and blues.
