Santiago Cruz
Born in Ibagué, in Colombia’s Tolima department, Santiago Cruz has, since the early 2000s, developed a singer‑songwriter style that sits between Latin pop, the ballad and acoustic song. He released Solo hasta hoy in 2003 and Sentidos in 2006, before gaining wider visibility with Cruce de caminos in 2009, an album produced by the Spaniard Nacho Mañó, an important collaborator at several stages of his career. His music is built on a composed voice, clear melodies and arrangements blending guitars, piano and adult pop, with lyrics focused on relationships, everyday life and the nuances of intimacy. Cruz continued in this vein with A quien corresponda (2012), Equilibrio (2014), Trenes, aviones y viajes interplanetarios (2016), Dale (2021) and Nueve (2023). Across his records he has also worked with other Spanish‑speaking artists such as Dani Martín, Abel Pintos, Elsa y Elmar, Pedro Capó and Alejandro Sanz, while remaining rooted in a form of melodic pop closely tied to the Colombian, Latin American and Iberian scenes.
