Sangre de Muerdago
Born in Ourense, Galicia, in 2007 around Pablo Caamiña Ursusson and Jorge Olson de Abreu, Sangre de Muerdago crafts an acoustic neofolk deeply rooted in Galician traditions while engaging with contemporary European scenes. Later based in Leipzig, the group operates with a shifting core of musicians around Ursusson, giving Sangre de Muerdago the character of an open collective rather than a fixed lineup. The Galician-language lyrics draw on imagery of nature, rites and memory, with mystical elements, and also set to music poems by Rosalía de Castro, Celso Emilio Ferreiro and Manuel María. Between slow ballads, vocal harmonies and string arrangements, Sangre de Muerdago’s sound sits at the crossroads of pastoral folk, dark folk and a meditative heritage close to certain experimental scenes. After an initial demo in 2007, the discography notably includes the albums Sangre de Muerdago (2010), Deixádeme Morrer no Bosque (2013), O Camiño das Mans Valeiras (2015), Noite (2018), Xuntas (2020) and O Vento que Lambe as miñas Feridas (2023), along with EPs, compilations and splits. Sangre de Muerdago has undertaken numerous international tours and recorded several shared releases with Novemthree, Monarch, Steve Von Till and Judasz & Nahimana, establishing a lasting presence within neofolk and DIY networks.
