Spleen
Born in 1982 in the Paris region to a family of Cameroonian origin, Spleen, whose real name is Pascal Oyong-Oly, has built a career at the crossroads of rap, singing, composition and human beatbox. His music blends hip-hop formats with chanson and pop. Spleen emerged in the mid-2000s after being noticed by Raphaël Hamburger and Marc Lumbroso, and he won the CQFD competition organized by Les Inrockuptibles in 2005. That same year he self-produced She Was A Girl, founded the label Black & White Skin and contributed to the soundtrack of Cédric Klapisch’s film Les Poupées russes. Comme un enfant paraît was released in 2008 and features collaborations with artists such as Yael Naim, Keziah Jones and TV on the Radio. Alongside his records, Spleen develops projects for image and stage across film, television and theater. He wrote and staged the rock opera The Story Of A Sad Loving Man, presented at La Cigale in 2010, before returning to self-production with Voices in 2013. In 2014 Spleen took part in season 3 of The Voice, continuing a career marked by constant movement between recorded music, live performance and visual creation.
