Rubén Pozo
Born in Barcelona in 1975 and raised in Madrid, Rubén Pozo has been part of Spanish rock since the mid-1990s as a singer, guitarist and composer. He first appears with Buenas Noches Rose, the group with which he participates in the albums Buenas Noches Rose (1995), La danza de araña (1997) and La estación seca (1999), in a rock vein nourished by classical guitars and direct songwriting. After the group’s end, Rubén Pozo founded Pereza with Leiva in 2001, a duo marked by a sound blending Spanish-language rock, pop rock and references to glam and rhythm and blues, which established itself on Spanish and Latin American stages. After Pereza’s pause in 2011, Pozo pursued a solo career with Lo que más (2012), En marcha (2015), Habrá que vivir (2017), then Vampiro (2022). He also releases Mesa para dos (2019), an EP made with Lichis, extended by the album Mesa para dos - el disco - con Lichis (2020). Parallel to his personal projects, Pozo co-wrote Embustera for Joaquín Sabina on Vinagre y rosas (2010) and has multiplied live and studio collaborations. His music retains a tight rock base, carried by sober melodies, a singer-songwriter tone and writing anchored in daily life.
