Rootsriders
Formed in Amsterdam in the 2000s around a tribute project to Bob Marley, Rootsriders developed as a reggae collective focused on the Wailers' repertoire. The Netherlands‑based group brings together several instrumentalists and backing vocalists around a lead singer — a role occupied over time by different vocalists, notably Junior Tecla and Mo Ali — which gives Rootsriders a flexible identity from tour to tour. Musically, Rootsriders works in the roots reggae tradition of the 1970s, with a pronounced two‑beat rhythm, prominent bass lines and arrangements close to the original versions, while at times adding soul and pop colours to adapt the sound to contemporary stages. The band's career has been built primarily through live performance, with regular concerts in the Netherlands, Belgium and other European countries, where Rootsriders presents thematic sets covering different periods of Bob Marley's work. Several recordings available on streaming platforms testify to this stage‑oriented approach, extending Rootsriders' role as a tribute group focused on transmitting Marley's catalogue to a contemporary audience.
