Robin Trower

Born in Catford, south London, and raised in Southend-on-Sea, Robin Trower made his mark on the British scene from the 1960s with The Paramounts alongside Gary Brooker, before joining Procol Harum in 1967. He contributed to the group's first five albums and already displayed a guitar style more rooted in blues rock than in the band's psychedelic and progressive vein. In 1971 Trower left Procol Harum to develop a personal repertoire, and in 1973 he formed the Robin Trower Band, a trio centered on James Dewar on bass and vocals and Reg Isidore, later replaced by Bill Lordan. His music blends blues rock, hard rock and soul rock, featuring a wide, highly expressive guitar approach marked by bends, slow riffs and a search for texture derived as much from rhythm and blues as from the electric rock of the late 1960s. This period notably includes Twice Removed from Yesterday (1973), Bridge of Sighs (1974), For Earth Below (1975), Long Misty Days (1976) and In City Dreams (1977). Trower later collaborated with Jack Bruce on B.L.T. (1981), Truce (1982) and Seven Moons (2007), while maintaining a steady discography from Go My Way (2000) to Coming Closer to the Day (2019), No More Worlds to Conquer (2022), Joyful Sky (2023) with Sari Schorr, and Come and Find Me (2025).
