Seb Martel
French guitarist Seb Martel, active across jazz, rock, pop, Afro-American music and Caribbean repertoires, has built a transversal career as a musician, equally present as a sideman as in more personal projects. His name appears alongside artists from diverse backgrounds, from -M- to Camille, via Alain Chamfort, Teri Moïse, Albin de la Simone, Femi Kuti, Piers Faccini, Julien Lourau, Magic Malik, Bumcello or Sinclair, which places Seb Martel in contexts ranging from chanson to improvised and mixed music. As a solo artist, he released Ragalet in 2003 and then Coitry? in 2006, a double album signed Sebmartel that pairs a country vein with a more urban approach, with a marked taste for flexible forms and crossovers between styles. Seb Martel also developed a collective project with Las Ondas Marteles, a group founded with his brother Nicolas Martel and bassist Sarah Murcia around Latin American music, while taking part in various stage projects. He has thus appeared in productions mixing theatre and music, notably with Jean-Michel Rabeux, Dorothée Munyaneza or around repertoires linked to Woody Guthrie and the Beat Generation. More recently, Seb Martel composed the original music for the documentary series La lutte des glaces, broadcast in 2023.
