Rachael Sage
Born in Port Chester, New York, Rachael Sage has developed since the mid-1990s a repertoire situated between pop, folk and rock, with piano-centered songwriting and acoustic or electric arrangements depending on the period. Her approach is marked by a theatrical and cabaret sensibility, while remaining within the song format. Initially trained in ballet and drama and a Stanford graduate, she adopted the stage name Rachael Sage in 1995 and founded the independent label MPress Records the following year, which released her first album Morbid Romantic (1996). Her discography has grown steadily since, notably with Ballads & Burlesque (2004), Delancey Street (2010), Choreographic (2016), Myopia (2018), Character (2020), The Other Side (2023) and Canopy (2025). She has also recorded acoustic formats and led several collective projects, while performing across North American and European stages. Her career includes a duet with Judy Collins on “Helpless” for the compilation Both Sides Now: The Very Best of Judy Collins, and shared concerts with artists from the singer-songwriter scene. Alongside her music, Rachael Sage pursues work as a visual artist.
