Quatuor Debussy

Founded in Lyon in 1990, the Quatuor Debussy belongs to the European string quartet tradition while developing an activity strongly rooted in contemporary creation. Over a trajectory begun in the early 1990s on French and international stages, the ensemble has built a repertoire ranging from Viennese classicism to 20th‑century music, with particular attention to works by Claude Debussy, Dmitri Shostakovich and modern French composers. The group regularly explores staged concert formats and multidisciplinary projects combining theatre, dance or visual arts, seeking to renew the audience's relationship to chamber music. Its discography, released on several labels, reflects this dual anchoring in the core quartet repertoire and in contemporary creation, with numerous commissions and world premieres. Active in pedagogy and transmission, the quartet frequently participates in masterclasses, workshops and academies, notably in connection with Lyon's musical life and various festivals in France and abroad.
